Conservation & Stewardship Malama ka aina is a Hawaiian term which means "Care for the land". We realize what a fragile place it is in which we live. Hawaii Forest & Trail fulfills its credo "Conservation begins with Education" by such things as free school field trips, tree plantings, community service projects, and participation in advisory boards. Hawaii Forest & Trail also takes a direct hand in maintaining native lands in their habitat through stewardship programs.
