Moon

Although most people have gazed up at the moon at some point in their lives, many have never had the experience of seeing it through a powerful telescope. This enhanced view brings to life the craters and ancient “oceans” of the lunar landscape. Being the only celestial body other than earth that humans have walked on, the moon has long been an object of interest to people around the world.

Known as Mahina in Hawaiian, stories tell of the moon being the resting place of the mother of the ever famous Hawaiian god, Maui. With its affect on the tides and ocean, the moon plays quite a role throughout many aspects of Hawaiian life, and watching the full moon rise from the summit of Mauna Kea, resting gently on the mountains shadow, is truly a sight to behold!
