Pokane or Night Marchers

There are stories found throughout the island of the Pokane, or night marchers (although the term Pokane is more of a literal translation, and has debatable meanings). The Night Marchers are said to traverse the islands over many trials, on different nights of the year. Some say they are fallen warriors, some say they are alii (chiefs) and kahuna (priests). Regardless of who they may be, it is said that they should be shown respect and given their space. There are many stories detailing encounters with Night Marchers, and reasons for their travels, but all seem to come the conclusion that if you happen to come across the Night Marchers, you should stay out of their way. Although they are not usually thought to be menacing, it is a good idea to move out of their way or they are liable to march right over you, or, in worse scenarios, become aggressive and dangerous. It is believed, however, that if you let them go about their business, they will leave you alone and do you no harm.
