Eugene Canepa
Interpretive Guide
Eugene grew up in the Bay Area of California. He attended Humboldt State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Marine Resources Planning and Management, with a minor in Scientific Scuba Diving. Before moving to the Big Island of Hawaii, he guided in Southeast Alaska for four years leading ocean kayak tours.
Eugene’s dreams of living in paradise brought him to Hawaii, and he credits his passion for learning and nature with landing him a job at Hawaii Forest & Trail. He spends his free time drawing wildlife, and also likes to surf, hike, dive and kayak.

We were with Eugene for the Kona Coffee and Crater tour on April 27th, while cruising on Royal Caribbean’s Radiance of the Seas. We loved the tour and Eugene was the best ever. We had a great experience riding in the Pinzgauer, but Eugene made the trip for us. Thank you for providing one of the best parts of our cruise.

We LOVE Eugene!! We went on a Volcano tour with Eugene this week and it was awesome. We were so impressed by his knowledge and his wonderful sense of humour!! It was absolutely a beautiful and interesting day.
Ans as Eugene says…. “Volcanos build and volcanos destroy!!!!!!”
