Taj Flora
Interpretive Guide
Taj grew up surfing and exploring the beaches, marshes and estuaries of coastal North Carolina, quickly developing a strong love for the ocean. This interest in natural environments prompted him to study Environmental Sciences at the University of North Carolina,Wilmington.
Keeping NC as his base, he spent time surfing in Central America, California, Mexico, east coast US, Hawaii, as well as trekking in northern Thailand and throughout India. Since calling the Big Island his home, Taj has developed a deep respect and interest for the active volcanoes, their unique ecology and geology, and their overseer Pele-honua-mea, which he is passionate about sharing with others

Taj,
Ditto on the above comment! I felt like we were “studying abroad” in Kona and learned so much from your tour! I would have never learned…or retained!...any of the information you gave us from a book. Your love and passion for what you do is evident and your energy is contagious! Totally serious about coming to visit the great NW! You can bring a friend too!
Thanks again,
Ginny & Don

Aloha Taj!
We LOVED our visit to the volcano and wanted to thank you for the best day of our vacation, hands down. We learned so much more from you than we had on our previous visits to the area on our own. You are a gifted teacher with a genuine passion for what you do, and we came away with a deeper understanding of and appreciation for the incredible power and beauty of your island home. Thank you for the magical memories - Mahalo nui loa me ke aloha pumehana,
Mickey and Lynne (1/5/12)
