Garry was our guide for the Hakaleu NWR tour on January 8, 2013 and he was superb. We found all but one of our “target” birds, and he tried hard for that one. He is also knowledgeable about the forest ecology, which put the birds into context. You don’t have to be a birder to enjoy this tour. What a privilege to be able to hike and explore the Hakaleu National Wildlife Refuge, a restricted area not open to the general public.

Aloha! We were on vacation with our friends, our FIRST trip to Hawaii, and had the opportunity to take the Waterfall tour. Garry was our guide and he made it such a memorable event!!! He was very knowledgable, funny, great with the kids, and patient. He definitely loves what he does and it showed in the tour, which made us love it too! Thanks, Hawaii-Forest and Trail, for a great tour… and special thanks to Garry for sharing your passion with us! We were SAFE, we had FUN, and we CONNECTED! :O)
